Brazil is one of the most important players in the global fight against climate change. It is crucial to support Brazilian public opinion in favor of strict climate protection. Some educational initiatives on climate change are already in place, the issue is also discussed in Brazilian schools. However, innovative educational approaches are still lacking in many ways.
The objective of the project is to develop a game-based learning tool (the game “Escape Climate Change”), based on an already tested concept. It will be adapted to the Brazilian reality and shall also address interrelated topics such as social justice and racial equality. The materials, including a teachers’ manual, will be distributed to public schools in two pilot regions (Rio de Janeiro and Pernambuco). The target group is students (14–18), teachers and multipliers. The project will also implement knowledge exchange as well as stimulate networking.
