We always want to be good – game about youth opposition in the GDR is now available to order!

We are pleased to announce that pre-orders for the game ‘We Always Want to Be good’ are now open!

The serious game ‘Wir wollen immer artig sein’ (We always want to be good) focuses on the opposition of young people in the final years of the GDR and prepares the topic for young people aged 14 and above (8th grade). Players get to know fictional young people, immerse themselves in their life stories in small groups, and influence them through decisions and actions. A video with contemporary footage frames the game.

The serious game offers young people the opportunity to experience civil courage, protest and resistance in a dictatorship in a playful way and to draw parallels with today’s democracy. It will be produced in a limited edition of 200 game boxes and distributed free of charge to multipliers (schools, political education institutions). At the same time, a DIY (do-it-yourself) version is being developed that can be assembled independently with the help of templates and instructions. In addition, educational materials are available that explain how to use the game and present in-depth teaching materials.

All information about the project and the option to order the educational game can be found here: educational materials are available that explain how to use the game and provide in-depth teaching materials.
