Chronokinesien – Next Level Democracy

Escape game on democracy, diversity, racism and engagement

The project developed the game Chronokinesien – Next Level Democracy and made it available for use in schools and other educational settings. The game is based on the concept of escape games, in which a group must solve various puzzles within a set time limit. The players are guided in small groups through various tasks in order to reach the final solution. Chronokinesien was developed as a game box containing all the tasks/puzzles, game materials and accompanying educational material. The game was distributed free of charge to extracurricular educational institutions and schools throughout Germany.

The Game

  • Target group: extracurricular educational institutions and youth organisations, as well as schools; not open to individuals
  • Age group: 14 years and older
  • Recommended group size: 10-30 people
  • Duration: (including set-up, introduction, feedback) approx. 90 minutes.

Chronokinesien is a mobile escape game. Within a set time limit, players must decipher codes to solve an overarching puzzle. The codes are designed in such a way that success can only be achieved through good communication and coordinated teamwork. The aim is to solve puzzles related to democracy and diversity in society step by step against the clock. This provides a playful approach to these topics.

The game is designed for young people aged 14 and above and for groups of 10 to 30 players. All the materials required are included in the Chronokinesia box, and the game lasts approximately 90 minutes. Players puzzle their way through five levels to the final, learning about democracy, the basics of social coexistence and tolerance in a playful way.

In addition, accompanying material is available to provide technical and educational support.

Unfortunately, the game Chronokinesien is out of print and can no longer be ordered. However, the game can be borrowed from numerous locations.

Rental

Interest in the game Chronokinesien remains unabated. Unfortunately, it is not possible to produce more copies. For this reason, we are offering a rental service.

The game has been sent to more than 400 schools and educational institutions throughout Germany. Many of these institutions have kindly agreed to make the game available for loan in their region. The map on the right shows which organisations are offering their boxes for loan (red). If you are interested in borrowing a game box, please contact the relevant organisation/school directly. You can find the contact details on the map.

To simplify the lending process, we provide a lending slip that can be used to record the issue and return of the game in writing:
