Game for tolerance and diversity
As part of this project, the interactive game ‘Chronosophen – Mission from the Future’ is being developed for young people to promote dialogue between third-country nationals and the host society in a school environment. It is designed as a group game in which players have to puzzle their way through various levels in a fun and non-judgmental way, mastering tasks related to migration, refugee experiences, integration, inclusion, cultural diversity and tolerance in interactive game situations. The game mechanics are based on democratic functioning and rules with intended learning experiences that must be experienced and negotiated in immersive situations – the functioning, norms and values of the host society are tested and communicated in playful acculturation processes. Pupils are brought into dialogue about migration and integration in a playful way, and their own biographies and cultural adaptation processes are addressed in the game.
The game is intended for use in both school and out-of-school education and is being developed as a game box containing all the necessary game materials. The game is supported by digital resources, such as a companion website that provides tasks, information and short videos, as well as a chatbot that offers clues to the puzzles. In addition, there will be a comprehensive range of educational resources for teachers, providing background information and suggestions on how to use the game.
The project is funded by the Europäischen Union under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF).
