Play Green is a web portal that brings together analogue and digital games with a focus on sustainability for teaching in secondary schools and provides teachers, ESD educators and young people with an evaluation and classification of the games. Digital training courses teach participants how to use the games and integrate them into their lessons. Play Green establishes a web-based infrastructure that collects playful approaches in ESD over the long term, processes and evaluates them for multipliers, and thus makes them accessible to many. The aim of the project is to increase the use of games and playful concepts related to ESD in education.
The project aims to strengthen playful learning in ESD and to multiply the potential of games for teaching sustainability and initiating creative competence. The web portal offers a search function for sustainability topics and age groups, shows how the game can be integrated into a lesson sequence, refers to relevant teaching materials, names learning objectives and skills to be developed, and evaluates the quality of the game.
This project was funded by the Umweltbundesamt and the Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz, nukleare Sicherheit und Verbraucherschutz. The funds were allocated by resolution of the German Bundestag.
