Play.Green

Play.Green is a web portal that features analogue and digital games with focus on sustainability. The portal evaluates and categorises games, helping teachers and ESD-educators to make use of a game-based approach in the classroom. The platforms objective is to convey the use of selected games and their didactic integration into the classroom. Play.Green establishes a web-based infrastructure that collects long-term game-based approaches in ESD, evaluates and processes them for multipliers, thus making them accessible to many. The aim of the project is to increase the use of games related to ESD in education.

Furthermore the project is linked to the goal of strengthening game-based learning in ESD and multiplying the potential of games for teaching sustainability and for developing creative competence. The web portal provides a search function for sustainability topics and age groups, shows how the game can be embedded in a teaching sequence, refers to corresponding teaching material, specifies learning objectives and competences to be acquired, and evaluates the quality of the game.

This project was funded by the Federal Environment Agency and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection. The funds are made available by resolution of the German Bundestag.
